I sometimes brag to my subjects that I can turn any location in to a photography studio :) Those confident remarks always helped me coerce many a reluctant CEO when shooting for Nashville Business Journal. Furthermore, those of you who know me, also know that I rarely brag! But truthfully any good photog ought to be able to do that! Part of the fun of being a photographer is finding a cool place to shoot! Backyards, Alleyways, Studio apartments, office building corridors, conference rooms, warehouses, a grocer's store room and even cars...and the list goes on :) The images above were shot on location at one of my all time best locations. Pictured are Julia, Jaclyn and Anna at Marathon Village near downtown Nashville.
You guys may also remember that Marathon once housed my former full time shooting location, Studio 96. It's where I spent my brief single days in Music City, shooting, living and hanging out. So in the future if I ask if I can photograph you :) and you reply with "but where will we shoot" ?...Well, you just leave that me and make no mistake, you better be bringing your best Supermodel attitude :) !

I have had some fun photo shoots in the last few months! And have witnessed some pretty great happenings concerning Nashville's economy as it inches upward.
I was privileged to meet and photograph Jennifer Caughey, who was recently named Senior Property Manager at Pinnacle at Symphony Place Office Tower. Just in case you didn't know, It's Nashville's newest and most luxurious Class A commercial office environment.
A quite auspicious event was held at The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum that I covered for Cumberland Pharmaceuticals. I have been following Cumberland since it was founded in 1999 and have photographed its one and only  CEO, A.J. Kazimi since my days shooting at NBJ.They were proud to honor many of their staff members at their first national sales meeting.
I was there when the folks at Canyon Johnson Urban Fund, $1 billion strong, reaffirmed its commitment to Nashville's top dogs in commercial real estate at the Pinnacle Tower in Downtown's SoBro.
And when I found out that DVL, one of Nashville's oldest and most respected P.R. and Advertising firms was moving it's offices to the Terrazzo in the Gulch, I was photographing a farewell party for the firm's long time CFO, Jerry Southwood. It was a quaint office only event with tacos, sodas and cake, where everyone wished him and his wife Jean well on their way to big sky country.

I photographed a great event on Wednesday night! The Nashville Capital Network's annual meeting. More than 150 Nashville business go getters were in attendance at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel to get an update of the NCN's progress in 2010. Speakers included Chairman Tom Wylly of Brentwood Capital Advisors, Mark Cate, Special Assistant to newly elected TN Governor Bill Haslam, Joe Cook, of Limestone fund and Brian Fox of Capital Confirmation. Reporting on the phenomenal growth of the Nashville Capital Network was it's Executive Director Sid Chambless. Please visit their website to get more info on how investing in the future of Middle Tennessee continues!

I had a really interesting gig earlier this month for a company called Energy Source Partners here in Nashville. My friend LaDonna Merville, who I met through the Nashville Chamber of Commerce a few years ago contacted me through Facebook, (this is when I love Facebook) for her husband Ron. His company had installed solar panels on the top floor of a parking garage in Mid-town and needed a few images for marketing purposes and website use. The interesting part is that this is one of the first projects of it's kind in the country and the fun part was I got to go up in a lift to shoot from above the shiny solar panels. Check out one of the images from the shoot below and to learn more about the company just click the photo to go to their website. Oh! did I mention that those solar panels provide the energy to power the entire parking structure and each can be easily configured to be used as a charging station for an electric car?.... Cool huh!!

          A December to Remember 12/21/2010

Some people feel winter can be a bit depressing. I find it to be like the ultimate snooze sometimes...letting us prepare for a fast paced Spring and Summer to come. It enables me to shoot my favorite type of scenic images. A view through winter trees...I'm really drawn to them. I like to picture what's on the other side of a cold, brown and prickly pattern. Usually a form of beauty, well at least my perception of beauty...

December recorded many milestones in my life. Among them...My son Jack turning 2. My business essentially reaching it's 10th
year and I have had my trusty Jeep Wrangler 10 years :)
During this final calendar of 2010 I wanted to say thanks to a few folks who have used my services this December.
I enjoyed spending time with the Tennessee Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at their holiday luncheon. It was fun to document the Wachovia to Wells Fargo change over in Nashville and to also photograph the many local non-profits who received gifts from Wells fargo. Plus shooting head shots and group photos of one of Wells Fargo Advisors new teams. I'd also like thank Kate Herman, Lance Williams and Caroline McCool at the Nashville Business Journal for keeping my name in print media for the 23rd consecutive year of my career as a press/commercial photographer.
As we all know, times are tough and I am very grateful to my clients who continue to trust me with their image and allowing me to continue to document another year of our lives. I look forward to seeing you all and making more contacts in 2011.

This fall has turned out to be a relaxing one, but productive one. As I continue to revamp my new business identity and web presence, I have had some quality photo shoots as well. For example; new head shots for my friend from back home, singer Vic Sorrell. A Belmont Women's Soccer game shoot (pictured below). Sports are my favorite to photograph but Soccer is difficult to shoot! :) NBJ's Healthcare Heros, CFO Awards and Shaping a Greater Nashville events. I also spent some time photographing Battle Ground Academy Alumni celebrations and Nashville Wells Fargo sign unveiling and their local non-profit giving events as well
